A snake has been saved by surgery after mistaking four golf balls for a meal of chicken eggs.

A couple had placed the balls in their chicken coup at Nobbys Creek in New South Wales state to encourage their hen to nest.

They found the eggs missing last month and a lumpy carpet python nearby.

They took the 80-centimeter (32-inch) non-venomous snake to the nearby Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, where senior veterinarian Michael Pyne operated to remove the balls from the snake's intestine.

Pyne said the snake was making a speedy recovery.

'Those golf balls weren't moving any further; they were stuck where they were,' Pyne said.

'If it hadn't been found, it would have died for sure,' he added.

What's cute, yellow, eats snow and poops out bricks of ice?

Meet Yuki-taro, a Japanese robot built to quickly clear roads after heavy snows.

The cute little guy, about 5 feet long and 2 and a half feet high, simply plows into snowbanks, taking in the white stuff, compressing it and neatly stacking it in two-foot-long bricks on his rear bed.

Created by a consortium of private companies, municipal governments and university researchers, Yuki-taro is equipped with two video cameras in his "eyes" as well as a GPS tracking system to be completely self-guided.

The prototype has already won a design award, and doctored photos of it modified to look like the popular Pokemon character Pikachu have popped up online.

‘initially, the sun’s rays cause random dimples on the surface of the snow. once such a dimple is formed, sunlight can be reflected within the dimple, increasing the localised sublimation.

Shark in Lawyer's office...hmmm....two of a kind?

BOZEMAN, Mont. --

It started out as a joke - a lawyer putting a shark tank in his office. "I said, 'What would it take to put a shark in a lawyer's office?'", and it kind of took off from there, said attorney Christopher Gillette.

On Monday, a crane hoisted a 1,000-gallon aquarium up to a second-story window in Gillette's new office.

Gillette plans to fill the saltwater tank with a miniature marine ecosystem, including at least two sharks - a blacktip reef shark being flown in from the Caribbean Sea and a bamboo shark that will be hatched from eggs in the tank.

When the project is complete, people can watch video from wireless cameras inside the tank at http://www.cjgillettelaw.com and http://www.ccaqua.com.

Gillette also plans to install four other fish tanks in the new office, two 72-gallon tanks and two 46-gallon tanks containing coral reefs, star fish and sea urchins.
